Merriweather Cafe (South Brisbane, QLD, AUS)

Me and the girls decided to head to South Brisbane on a lovely day for some lunch and landed ourselves at Merriweather Cafe.  We had decided on this place upon a recommendation, and found our way to this cafe that sits almost in a residential area.  Strange location for just anyone, but convenient for those housed nearby or visiting the park, I suppose.

I love the concept and the color theme, which probably makes me a little bias - but all things aside, their coffee was quite alright.  It wasn't distinctly aromatic, but was smooth and not acidic.  For food, I had ordered the salad special, which consisted of toasted pumpkin (which sold me), spinach, chicken breast, sunflower seeds, and some other healthy tasting ingredients.  While I do love a good salad, this tasted like it was only seasoned with salt (including the chicken), and was really lacking in flavor.  I was rather disappointed in the food, and I heard the other dishes were just ok.  Unfortunate, for such a cute little place with decent coffee.  Of course, I can't quite judge this place with just one dish, but I doubt I'll be returning.
