Pronto Bucci (Fortitude Valley, QLD)

After a short visit to the Brooklyn Beauty Bar, I decided to read and have lunch at Pronto Bucci, a fairly new establishment next to Bucci itself.  The interiors are simple - kelly green themed as well - like Gramercy, which I recently visited.  I guess Pantone's color of the year is really quite popular!

I had their coffee and pastry special (6.5), of which I chose the chocolate croissant (typically $5).  My skinny latte was bitter and dark, and really just not my thing, which I was a bit disappointed about, since this place is Italian!  I was expecting more from the coffee - but my chocolate croissant did make up for it, I suppose.  The croissant was flaky and not too buttery, with just the right amount of chocolate filling for my liking.

I also had a the Saltimbocca di Pollo (9.5), a grilled chicken sandwich with fontina, prosciutto, and sage.  The portion was generous, especially with the panino sourdough.  The chicken had a good mouthfeel - not to tender and not too tough - and was flavourful.  The prosciutto made the sandwich a bit salty, but is a nice twist to a chicken sandwich, I suppose.  For 9.50, it was a substantial portion compared to many cafes I've visited in Brisbane.

The service was friendly, which is always a plus!  The non-back seating is always a bit uncomfortable for me, but no biggie.  It's not quite the cafe to sit at and read - more of a 'meetup for lunch' spot.
