Porto's Bakery & Cafe (Glendale, CA)

Porto's is one of the oldies but goodies that we like to go to for Potato Balls (90c) and Guava Strudels (75c).  We love this place 'cause they're pastries and breads are fresh, delicious, and super cheap!  The guava filling is so good...

Their Potato Balls are the best things ever when fresh - a nice crunch on the outside, a creamy potato mash in the next layer, and a cumin (and other spice) flavored meat center.  They're also not too bad when rebaked, but they're a must eat in-store!

We also shared the Pan con Bistec (6.7), which is a sandwich with marinated beef, potato sticks (sooo good), other veggies, with mojo, a Cuban garlic sauce, all in a Cuban roll.  The serving size is massive, so I thought that they may have cut the quality of everything - but the meat was delicious, went lovely with the grilled onions, especially with the mojo.  I had a sample of the chicken empanada, which was just ok, but we had a chicken croquette, which was better, but not as good as their potato balls!

Below is the Iced Dulce de Leche Latte (3.35), which was good with all the food, but a little sweet after drinking a bit.  It's not the best coffee ever, but convenient and delicious nonetheless.
