Da Pu Teppanyaki [大埔鐵板燒 ] (Taichung, Taiwan)

On a shopping day at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Taichung, me and mum made our way towards the shopping mall for food, only to walk past this Taiwanese style teppanyaki place.  I havn't actually had Taiwanese teppanyaki in several years - but it's the same idea as Behihana or any other Japanese teppanyaki, except it's much more casual, and much cheaper!  For those of you who don't know how it works, there is usually a U-shaped grill/table, where you sit on the opposite side of the chef, while they sautee all the food pretty much right in front.  It's pretty fun, especially for those who havn't had it!  Plus, the food is made fresh, and grilled food is mm, mm delicious!

I ordered the super meal with the cod fish and pepper steak, 2 shrimps and a scallop, while my mom got just the cod, and we shared.  Each meal comes with a bowl of rice, all you can drink miso soup, and two different kind of veggies (bean sprouts & cabbage by default).  The rice and miso are mediocre, but the sauteed veggies are delicious!  The pepper filet steak and cod were also really delicious, but I didn't like the shrimp and scallop, and probably wouldn't get them again.  The great thing about the place is that you can add on meat or veggies on the side, and they'll split it between your party!
My meal! 350$NT
The service at this place can really vary, and they're really speedy - so if you want to take your time to eat and order - you may find this place a bit disconcerting during dining hours.  They may also be unhappy with you ordering a meal between two people, and such, but overall, it's tasty and cheap!
