Continuing our fooding saga in Brisbane, my friend and I bused ourselves to New Farm to grab some baked goods and lunch. We had anticipated grabbing lunch at Chouquette, but finding that it was more of a bakery, we stopped at Ponycat located around the corner.
The recent warmth makes Ponycat a perfect place to eat, and it's got a relaxed, artsy vibe, which translates to even the items on their menu. Covered in art on all three walls and chalked all over with the menu, this open air cafe takes their time with presentation. We got the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs (17), which came with these pickled cherry tomatoes that were absolutely delicious! The salmon and the eggs were average, but the cherry tomatoes were just so good! Being a tomato-hater, this says quite a bit! We also go the chorizo and caramelized onion frittata (16) with rocket and feta, which I actually preferred. It tasted pretty good, and was a generous portion, but was a bit sweet for my taste. Overall it was a good experience, though I don't know if anything really stood out to me, plus the service was really slow...
